"
My grandfather. I’d love to pick his brain and seek his wisdom (since he passed away before I could do that) and catch him up on the happenings of my life."

Life Story

"I came to know the Lord at a young age.  I was blessed to have parents who loved the Lord and pointed me in the right direction.  After much curiosity, I made the decision to follow Christ on my own at a Vacation Bible School when I was eight years old. I remember walking down to the front, talking to one of the leaders and giving my life to Christ.

Now, of course, I realize that I did not understand all that my decision meant, but as I got older I grew in my knowledge of the Lord. By the time I was in high school I thought I had it all figured out.  I had my life down to lists of dos and don’ts and was doing pretty good, or so I thought.  As I went off to college and learned more about myself, I began to wrestle with the concept of grace.  I knew that others needed it, but I had not come to see that I, too, was in need of grace, and that I, in fact, needed it more than anyone else.  As the Lord broke me and revealed my pride and sin, He flooded me with his love and compassion.  I was freed from lists and was experiencing love like never before. My life was suddenly different, and I have never been the same.

The Lord continues to draw me to himself, and lately he has been teaching me to trust him with all of my life. He has shown me more than ever that He is sovereign and in control and doing big things all around me. Often I am too busy trying to control my own life to see what He is doing or too scared to trust Him.  He has put me in situations that require me to step out in faith and He has shown up big every time.  My life is an adventure and God is more real to me now than ever."

Vision for The Austin Stone

"My vision for The Austin Stone Community Church is that it would be a place where a body of believers from all different backgrounds can come together and walk in true fellowship like what is described in Romans 12.  I hope that this environment fosters vulnerability and allows people to feel connected with other people while also teaching them about Christ and how He is at work today."
